BUTTON LAY OUT: Holding the clock with the display facing you and the aerial in the top left corner, you will feel a circular raised section on the top of the clock; these are the control buttons. In the centre of the circle is the TALKING button. The circle around the TALK button is divided into 8 sections. Working from the 1 o'clock position, in a clockwise direction, the buttons are as follows:- SET / MEMORY SNOOZE / TUNE + HOURLY REP (Hourly report) / TUNE - MODE / BAND CLOCK / RADIO ARROW DOWN / CH- ARROW UP / CH+ COUNT DOWN /SLEEP On the back of the clock to the right there are 3 slide buttons. The top button selects between ‘Standard time (ST)’; located to the left and ‘Daylight saving time (DST)’to the right. The middle slide button is ‘TIME ZONE’, the left position is -1, middle position is 0 and the right position is +1 - see further in the instructions for details. The bottom slide button switches selects the Alarm sound, the left position is OFF, central position is DEE (beep beep) and the right position is RADIO. Also on the back to the left of the bottom slide button is the AC Adaptor (DC IN 12V) plug. Further left is the Earphone socket and on the far left the VOLUME (VOL) control. To increase the volume move to the left, to decrease move to the right. SETTING THE CLOCK: To hear the current time press the TALKING button, the time will be announced. AUTO SETTING THE RADIO CONTROLLED CLOCK When turned on for the first time or when you have replaced the batteries, the clock will automatically search for the radio signal. This may take some time, as the RCC time updates at 2:10am, 3:10am and 4:10am every day. If the update fails initially the clock will keep searching. For best reception place the clock near a window. Please note that sometimes environmental conditions will effect the clock's ability to receive the signal. Whilst searching for the signal an aerial symbol will flash on the screen to indicate the clock is searching. This will stop flashing once the clock has adjusted to the correct time. Please note: this clock utilises the European time signal. You will need to switch the DST switch on the back of the clock to DT (full right position) when Daylight Saving Time / British Summer Time starts. When British Summer Time ends you will need to slide the DST switch back to the ST position (full left position). Please note the clock’s ‘TIME ZONE’ button will be set to the ‘-1’ setting, which is for the following countries; United Kingdom, Ireland, Portugal and Iceland. For the following Countries please select ‘0’ on the TIME ZONE switch: Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Italy, Czech Republic, Croatia, Austria, Sweden, Hungary, Serbia and Poland. For the following Countries please select ‘+1’ on the TIME ZONE switch: Estonia, Finland, Romania, Belorussia, Turkey and the Ukraine. MANUALLY SETTING THE TIME: 1) Press MODE/BAND button once. The clock will say “TIME SET” 2) Press SET/MEMORY button the clock will say “HOUR SET”. 3) Use the ARROW UP/CH+ button to increase the hour and the ARROW DOWN/CH- button to decrease. To hear the hour you are currently on press the ‘TALKING’ button. 4) When the hours are correct press SET/MEMORY, the clock will say “MINUTE SET”. 5) Use the ARROW UP/CH+ button to increase the minutes and the ARROW DOWN/CH- button to decrease. To hear the minute you are currently on press the ‘TALKING’ button. 6) When the minutes are correct press SET, the clock will BEEP. You can now change between the 12 hour and 24 hour clock. Use the ARROW UP/CH+ button or the ARROW DOWN/CH- buttons to change between 12 hour and 24 hour mode. To exit the menu press the MODE/BAND button until you hear “TIME”. SETTING THE RADIO: PLEASE NOTE - THE RADIO WILL ONLY WORK WHEN CONNECTED TO MAINS POWER. To turn the radio on and off use the CLOCK/RADIO button. Tuning: 1) Press CLOCK/RADIO to turn the radio on. The display shows the band and frequency, PLEASE NOTE: THE RADIO FUNCTIONS ARE NOT SPOKEN. 2) Press the MODE/BAND button to select between FM and AM. 3) Press the SNOOZE/TUNE+ or HOURLY REP/TUNE- buttons to change the frequency in small steps. Alternatively, to locate the next station automatically, hold down the buttons for 3 seconds then release. The clock will then search and play the next active station. Storing Radio stations: You can store up to 20 FM stations and 20 AM stations. 4) Once you have the station you wish to store, press SET/MEMORY to activate the memory. You will hear a Beep. 5) Use the ARROW UP/CH+ or ARROW DOWN/CH- to select the number between 1 and 20 where you wish to store the station. 6) Press and hold SET/MEMORY you will hear two beeps. Your station is now stored, repeat the process to locate and store another station. Changing the station: To change between stored stations use the ARROW UP/CH+ and ARROW DOWN/CH- buttons. To change between AM and FM use the MODE/BAND button. When the radio is playing you can hear the time at any point by pressing the TALKING button. To improve reception; FM: Extend the aerial fully. AM: Rotate the clock with the aerial extended. Metal surfaces may interfere with the reception. SETTING THE ALARM: Please ensure the time mode is set with the CLOCK/RADIO button and that the correct time is set before setting the alarm. 1) Press MODE/BAND twice the clock will say “ALARM SET” 2) Press SET; the clock will say “HOUR SET”. 3) Use the ARROW UP/CH+ button to increase the hour and the ARROW DOWN/CH- button to decrease. To hear the hour you are currently on press the ‘TALKING’ button. 4) When the hours are correct press SET, the clock will say “MINUTE SET”. 5) Use the ARROW UP/CH+ button to increase the minutes and the ARROW DOWN/CH-button to decrease. To hear the minute you are currently on press the ‘TALKING’ button. 6) When the required alarm time is set press the MODE to return to the time display, you will hear “TIME” 7) To select the alarm sound or turn alarm off use the ALM SOUND slide button on the back of the clock. When the alarm is on a bell symbol will appear on the display. When you select the radio as the alarm, the station stored in CH01 will be played. You will not be able to use the radio as an alarm if the mains adaptor is not plugged in. If you have the radio selected as the alarm sound but the mains power is interrupted prior to the alarm sounding, the clock will run on the batteries and the alarm sound will change to the DEE DEE sound. When the DEE DEE alarm sounds at the set time, press the TALKING button to stop the alarm, otherwise the alarm sound will continue for one minute. When the Radio alarm sounds this will continue until the Alarm Off slide button is switched to off. If the alarm is stopped but not turned off the alarm will sound again at the same set time the following day. SNOOZE FUNCTION: The snooze function will only work when the alarm sound is set to DEE DEE. To activate press the SNOOZE/TUNE +, you will hear “SNOOZE ON” or “SNOOZE OFF”. When snooze is on SNZ appears on the display. When the snooze function is on and the alarm sounds press any button to activate the 5 minute snooze time. The snooze function will repeat three times if the alarm or snooze functions are not turned off completely. HOURLY REPORT FUNCTION: To turn the hourly report on or off press the HOURLY REP / TUNE- button. The clock will announce the status of the hourly report on the press of this button. When this function is on a clock symbol will appear on the screen and the time will be announced on each hour. Please note: when turned on this function works between the hours of 6am and 10pm. SLEEP TIMER: This function turns the radio off at a set time. The radio sleep timer can be set for between 10 minutes and 90 minutes. This function can be used when an alarm time is set. 1) Press CLOCK/RADIO to select the radio. 2) Press the COUNT DOWN button. The clock will say ‘Count down timer’ and will set the timer to 10 minutes. To increase press the COUNT DOWN button again - each press will increase the count down time by 10 minutes to a maximum of 90 minutes. When setting the sleep timer you will NOT be able to press the TALK button to hear the minutes as you select them. Once you have your desired minutes, the count down will begin 10 seconds after the display has flashed 5 times and the time will be displayed. 3) The radio will continue to play until the desired sleep time, at which point the radio will turn off. Alternatively, to turn the sleep timer off prior to the set time press the CLOCK/RADIO button, this will turn the radio off. Whilst in sleep timer mode, you can hear the current time by pressing the TALKING button. COUNT DOWN TIMER: This timer can also be set for between 10 minutes and 90 minutes and does not affect the preset daily alarm. When in time display mode press the COUNT DOWN button. The clock will say ‘Count down timer’ and will set the timer to 10 minutes; to increase press the button again. Each press will increase the count down time by 10 minutes to a maximum of 90 minutes. If you wish to hear the minutes set press the TALKING button. Once you have your desired minutes, the count down will begin after 10 seconds or after the display has flashed 5 times. If you wish to know how long is left on the count down timer press the TALKING button. Whilst in count down mode, you can hear the current time by pressing the MODE button followed by the TALKING button, but for the count down to continue, press the COUNT DOWN button. When the count down function is on; ‘Count Down’ will be displayed. To turn the count down timer off before the preset time: press the COUNT DOWN button once and the MODE button once whilst in count down mode (count down time is displayed). To turn the count down timer off when it sounds: Press any button. CHANGING THE BATTERIES: The battery compartment is located on the base of the clock. To open the compartment locate the raised lines in the centre of the base and push these towards the edge at the back of the clock. Inside are 4 x AAA Alkaline batteries. Replace the batteries, ensuring the flat end of the batteries are against the springs in the compartment. PLEASE NOTE: THE DISPLAY LIGHT REMAINS ON WHEN THE MAINS ADAPTOR IS PLUGGED IN.
