Talking Big Button Mobile Phone Please note: this phone has been despatched with the time and date set and the speech activated. The speech will only announce the number buttons on the keypad as they are pressed. If you wish to change the Keypad tone and switch the speech off please follow the instructions further on titled ‘Talking Function’. INSERTING THE BATTERY AND SIM CARD: On the back of the unit you will feel a circle at one end which is the SOS button. Holding the unit with this button furthest away from you, feel below the button for a line which is the battery compartment door. Push down and towards you on the unit below this line, the battery door will then move and can be lifted away. Feel inside the battery compartment, on the left upper side you will feel a slightly raised area, which is the memory card slot. To fit a memory card slide this section to the left to open, place the memory card under the metal framing and slide the section to the right to lock. Below there is another rougher section with two clips, this is the SIM card slot. Place the SIM card under the clips on either side, with the cropped corner of the SIM card in the top left position. Feeling around the battery, one short edge will be smooth and the other will have ridges to one side, these are the battery connectors. Place the battery into the battery compartment with the battery connectors pointing towards to the bottom right hand edge of the phone. Then push the top section of the battery down into the unit. Replace the battery compartment door, by placing it on the unit and pushing the door upwards towards the SOS button. CHARGING THE BATTERY: The battery indicator is located on the right hand side of the screen. There will be five bars displayed in this position when the battery is fully charged. These will decrease as the battery life goes down. A warning signal will be given when the battery is low and the unit will need charging. Plug the charger into the mains outlet and plug the jack into the charger hole on the left hand side on the bottom of the phone. When the battery is fully charged, turn off and disconnect the mains outlet first then remove the jack from the phone. TURN THE PHONE ON/OFF: Hold down the ON/OFF button. The unit will sound a chime when it is turned on and will say 'Bye' when turned off. KEYPAD DESCRIPTION: There are five rows in total; First row - Make /answer call button / access call logs - use to answer or make calls. Or to access the sub menu for your call logs i.e. Dialled calls, Received calls, Missed calls, Call timers, Clear logs. Up/Down/Menu button - use the up button to access the main menu Use the down button to access your contact list. While in any menu use the top section of this button to scroll up and the bottom section of the button to scroll down. On / Off / Cancel / Back button - Use to disconnect a call or hang up, or to step back one step through the menu or cancel an action. Second row - Number buttons - 1 2 / A / B / C 3 / D / E / F Third row - Number buttons - 4 / G / H / I 5 / J / K / L 6 / M / N / O Fourth row - Number buttons - 7 / P / Q / R / S 8 / T / U/ V 9 / W / X / Y / Z Fifth row - * (star button) 0 / Volume control for hearing aids # (hash button) Use the number keys to input phone numbers for dialling and saving. Also use them as letters for sending messages and adding names to phone numbers. Number keys 2-9 including the * (star) and # (hash) buttons as speed dial number. These will need to be programmed. Number 1 button is set to call 222, which is voicemail. MENU FUNCTIONS: In standby mode press the UP key to enter the main menu. Once in the main menu use the following buttons to navigate around the menu; * Call/OK button to enter a sub menu, * End/Cancel button to go back one step - each press will take you one step backwards. * UP / DOWN buttons to scroll through the menu you are currently in. Structure of the menus: (scrolling down in each menu feature) 1. PHONEBOOK a. Contact list: access your full phone book of names and numbers b. Search entry: search for a particular name in the phone book c. Add new contact: add new name and number. d. Delete all: delete all stored names and numbers from either phone or SIM card. e. Copy all: copy all stored names and numbers. f. SOS number: set up / edit the 4 numbers stored as your SOS numbers. g. Preferred storage: select to store your contact list on the phone memory or the SIM card. h. Memory status: indicates the used and available space on the phone memory and the SIM card. 2. MESSAGES a. Write message: Use the keypad to type a text message. Multiple presses of a button will access the various letters, i.e. Number 2 button is for A, B and C. Use # key for changing the style of writing (capitals, lower casing, numbers) and language. Use the * key to access symbols such as !, @ Use the OK/Call button to send the message and select the recipient. b. Inbox: Contains all received text messages. c. Outbox: Contains all sent messages. d. Drafts: Contains text messages which are written but not sent e. Templates: Contains pre-typed messages such as 'Thank you', 'How are you?'. f. Message settings: Contains the following sub-menus: Profile settings - Displays your mobile number Common settings - Turn the delivery report of text messages on/off Memory status - Displays the memory in the SIM and on the phone. g. Voice mail: Gives you the voicemail number which is 222. Also allows you to call this number. 3. SETTINGS a. Silent mode: Select silent mode on or off. b. Phone setup: Contains the following sub menus - User Profile - Select if you are in a meeting, outdoor, indoor etc, which will change the volume and alert of a text message or incoming call. Key sounds - Turn key sounds on or off Time and Date - Set the time and date displayed. Language - Select between the languages; English, Italian, German, French Input method - select the default font for text messaging Brightness - Adjust the brightness of the screen c. Network setup: Change network settings. d. Call setup: Contains the following sub-menus - Caller ID - Set by network, Hide or Send your ID. Call waiting - Activate or deactivate a call waiting. Alerts you if a call is waiting when you are on another call. Call divert - All voice calls, If unreachable, If no answer, If busy, All data calls, Cancel all diverts. Enables selected calls to be diverted to voicemail. Call barring - Outgoing calls, Incoming calls, Cancel all, Change barring pwd. Each contains sub menu to select the type of calls you wish to stop being made or received. Line switching - Line 1, Line 2. Switches between two call lines. Call time reminder - Off, Single, Periodic. Set an alert for the length of calls. Auto redial - On/Off. Enables an outgoing call which is not possible to be redialled automatically. Closed User Group: IP Number: Speed dial - Status, Set Number; Set up the speed dial numbers. Black list - Mode, Black list numbers; Set numbers which are black listed. Auto hands free - On/Off; Automatically answer via hands free kit. e. Security setup: contains the following sub-menus - SIM lock - On/Off; Lock the SIM card. Password required. Phone lock - On/Off; Lock the phone. Password required. Auto keypad lock - None, 5 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 Minute, 5 minute; Set the key pad to lock at a time interval when the phone is in standby. Fixed dial - Mode, Fixed Dial List Barred Dial: Change password - Pin, Pin2, Phone lock; Change passwords for the phone. f. To do list: Allows you to make a 'to do list', with a date and time alert. g. Alarm: Set an alarm. h. Calculator: Calculator function. i. Restore factory settings: to restore all original settings, this will delete all you saved information. Please note you will need the input a password for this function. 4. CALL LOGS a. Dialled calls: Lists called numbers. b. Received calls: Lists number which have called you. c. Missed calls: Lists numbers which have called you but were not answered. d. Call timers: Lists the length of the last call made, all calls made and received. You can also reset the timers in this function. e. Clear logs: Clears the list of numbers/calls made, received and missed. 5. MULTIMEDIA Your MP3 files will be stored and accessible in this menu. 6. FILE MANAGER Contains the used and free memory storage information for your memory card. MAKING / ANSWERING A CALL & DISCONNECTING A CALL: Making a call - To make a call you can either use the number keypad to dial the required number including the area code or use your contact list. Once your speed dial numbers are setup these can also be used to make a call. -Input the number using the keypad and press the CALL/OK button to dial the number. -To access your contact list press the DOWN button. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to scroll through your contacts. Once you have located your required contact name, press the CALL/OK button, to access a sub menu (see below). To call the contact press the CALL/OK button again. The sub menu which allows you to call the contact also allows you to complete the following actions in association to the selected contact; (Call) IP Dial View Send message Edit Delete Copy Move Answering a call - When a call is received and the contact is stored in the phone memory the name of the contact will be displayed. If they are not a stored contact the number they are calling from will be displayed, unless it is withheld or not available. To answer an incoming call press the CALL/OK button. This function can be completed with the key lock turned on. To disconnect a call - Once you have finished your call press the CANCEL/ON/OFF button to disconnect the call. If you wish to stop a call at any time press the CANCEL/ON/OFF button. ADDING A NAME AND NUMBER TO YOUR CONTACT LIST: 1. Go into the menu, locate and select PHONEBOOK. 2. Use the DOWN button and locate 'ADD NEW CONTACT', press the OK/CALL button to select. 3. NAME will be displayed. Press the OK/CALL button to select. 4. Use the keypad to enter the name of the contact. Press the OK/CALL button. 5. NAME and the contact name will be displayed. 6. Use the DOWN button to go to NUMBER . Press the OK/CALL button. 7. Use the keypad to enter the contacts phone number. Press the OK/CALL button to save the new contact information. QUICK SETUP OF THE SPEED DIAL NUMBERS: Hold down the number button between 2-9 or * or #, which you would like to add a number to. The screen will display the button number and a box containing the word Empty, if there is no number stored. Press the OK/Call button. The screen will display Edit. Press the OK/Call button. The screen will now display the first name in you contact list. Use the UP and DOWN scroll buttons to locate the number you wish to use. Press the OK/Call button to store. Repeat the process to store a number for each number button, the * and the # buttons. Please note the speed dial number for button 1 is automatically set to 222, which is the voicemail number. To exit the speed dial menu press the OFF/CANCEL button once. To make a call using Speed dial: Press and hold the required keypad number to activate a call to the stored number. You DO NOT need to press the CALL/OK button. SOS FUNCTION: You can store up to 4 different phone numbers for the SOS function. These can be different to your speed dial numbers if required. When the SOS button is activated the 4 numbers are called consecutively until one of the recipients answers the call. To store your SOS phone numbers: 1) Access the menu, locate PHONEBOOK and press the OK/CALL button to select. 2) Scroll down to locate SOS NUMBER, press the OK/CALL button to select. 3) In this submenu you can now; Add, Update, Delete and Change Status. Locate and select ADD. 4) The display will show ADD NUM1. Using the UP/DOWN buttons will scroll through the 4 available number slots, i.e. Add Num2, Add Num3, Add Num4. 5) Locate the designed slot i.e. Add Num1 and press the OK/CALL button. 6) Use the number keypad to type the required number including the area code, then press the OK/CALL button. 7) SAVED will be displayed and the phone will go back to the previous screen where you can scroll down to store the next number. If you wish to edit, delete any of the stored SOS numbers go into the sub menu under SOS NUMBER and select the desired action. FM RADIO: Please note: you can listen to the radio with or without the earphones. However, It is recommended when searching for stations to plug the earphones into the unit to increase the signal. The FM radio ON/OFF switch is the bottom slide switch on the left side of the phone. To turn the radio on, slide the switch forward/upwards and to turn off slide the switch backwards/downwards. Manually scan for stations: Use the UP/DOWN button to scan up or down in increments of one. The frequency will wrap around once it reaches the top or bottom of the band. This method allows fine tuning of stations. Stations will not be stored when manually scanned for. Auto scan for stations: To auto scan press the NUMBER 5 key, the phone will display the word 'Searching'. Once the scan is complete the display will show 'Done' followed by Channel 1 and the frequency found. To go through the found frequencies, use the 2 BUTTON as up and the 8 BUTTON as down. As you go to each channel if there is a frequency stored it will automatically play the station. Up to 30 found stations/frequencies can be stored, but only in automatic searching. These will be saved automatically. Please note when you have searched for frequencies and turn the radio off, the found stations/frequencies will be saved. However, when turning the radio back on the first free/unused channel will be available. I.e. if 4 stations were found and the unit was turned off and back on the unit will display and go to the position 5. At this point use the NUMBER 2 BUTTON to go up through your stored stations/frequencies. CHANGING THE DISPLAY BRIGHTNESS: 1) Access the menu, locate and select SETTINGS. 2) Locate and select PHONE SETUP. 3) Scroll DOWN to BRIGHTNESS and press the OK/CALL button to select. 4) Use the UP and DOWN buttons to change the brightness of the display. 5) Once you are happy with the brightness, press the OK/CALL button to select and save. The display will then show 'Brightness'. 6) To exit the menu press the OFF/CANCEL button 3 times to go to the main display. TORCH: The torch is located on the top edge of the phone. To switch the torch on locate the top slide switch on the right side of the phone. Slide the switch forward/upwards to turn the torch on and backwards/downwards to turn off. KEYLOCK: This feature will lock all the keypad functions, to stop accidental dialling or activation of functions/menus. The key lock is the bottom slide switch located on the right side of the phone. To lock the keys slide the switch backwards / downwards. The display will show a padlock and the time when the keys are locked. To unlock the keys slide the switch forward / upwards, the display will return to showing the time, date, battery and signal levels. When the key lock is on, incoming calls can still be answered in the usual way, by pressing the Call / OK button. VOLUME: On the left side of the phone at the top is the volume button. Use the top end of this button to increase the volume and the bottom end of the button to decrease the volume. SETTING THE TIME AND DATE: Set the time: 1. Press the UP button to go into the menu. 2. Use the UP/Down buttons to scroll through and locate SETTINGS. 3. Press the CALL/OK button. 4. Use the UP/Down buttons to scroll through and locate PHONE SETUP. 5. Press the CALL/OK button. 6. Use the UP/Down buttons to scroll through and locate TIME AND DATE. 7. Press the CALL/OK button. 8. Use the UP/Down buttons to scroll through and locate SET TIME/DATE. 9. Press the CALL/OK button. 10.The current time set will be displayed. 11.Press the CALL/OK button. 12 Use the number keypad to change the time (24 hour format). 13. Press the CALL/OK button. 14. DONE will be displayed and the unit will return to SET TIME/DATE mode. From this point you can set the date by following these instructions:- Set the date: 1. Use the UP/Down buttons to scroll through and locate SET TIME/DATE. 2. Press the CALL/OK button. 3.The current time set will be displayed. Use the DOWN button to go down one space until the date is displayed. 4.Press the CALL/OK button. 5.Use the number keypad to change the date (day, month and year). Please note: you do not need to input the full year, only the last two digits. i.e. for 2010 you would only need to type 10. 6. Press the CALL/OK button. 7. DONE will be displayed and the unit will return to SET TIME/DATE mode. SETTING AN ALARM: 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to SETTINGS. Select this by pressing the Ok / Call button. 2. Locate and select ALARM. 3. The display will show 00:00. Press the OK/Call button. 4. OFF will be displayed. Scroll down to show 00:00, then press the OK/Call button. 5. The display will show 00:00. Use the number keypad to enter the alarm time required. 6. Press the OK/Call button to confirm. Please note: The alarm will sound each day at the same time, unless it is turned off. To do this follow the same instructions as setting an alarm, but select OFF at point 4. TALKING FUNCTION: To change the keypad tone (turning off the keypad speech); 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to locate SETTINGS. Select this by pressing the Ok / Call button. 2. Locate and select PHONE SETUP. 3. Select USER PROFILE. The word GENERAL will be displayed. Press the Ok/Call button. ACTIVATE will be displayed. 4. Scroll down to CUSTOMIZE and press the OK/Call button. 5. TONE SETUP will be displayed. Press the OK/CALL button. 6. Locate and select KEYPAD TONE. Within the Keypad tone menu you can choose between the following; Silent, Click, Tone or Human voice tone 1. 7. Press the OK./CALL button to select the required keypad setting. CHANGING THE RINGTONE: 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to SETTINGS. Select this by pressing the Ok / Call button. 2. Locate and select PHONE SETUP. 3. Select USER PROFILE. The word GENERAL will be displayed. Press the Ok/Call button. ACTIVATE will be displayed. 4. Scroll down to CUSTOMIZE and press the Ok/Call button. Within the customize menu are the following; Tone setup - allows you to change the tone for Incoming calls - ring tones. Alarm - alarm sound for when alarm is set. Message tone - for when a text message is received. Power on - change the tone the phone makes when turned on. Power off - change the tone the phone makes when turned off. Keypad tone - change the keypad tones. 5. To change the ring tone, select Incoming call and press the Ok/Call button. The current ring tone will play automatically. Use the Up/Down buttons to scroll through the list. 6. Once you have located the required tone press the Ok/Call button to select. The display will show DONE indicating the changes have been saved. TO CHANGE THE POWER ON/OFF TONES: 1) Go into the menu. Locate and select SETTINGS. 2) Locate and select PHONE SETUP. 3) USER PROFILE will be displayed, press the OK/CALL button. 4) GENERAL will be displayed, press the OK/CALL button. 5) Locate and select CUSTOMIZE. 6) TONE SETUP will be displayed, press the OK/CALL button. 7) Locate and select POWER ON. 8) In here you will be able to choose from 6 start tones and silent. Locate the required sound and press the OK./CALL button. SETTING A TO DO LIST / REMINDER: Setting your first to do list; 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to locate SETTINGS. Press the OK / CALL button. 2. Locate and select 'TO DO LIST'. 3. The screen will display 'Empty'. Press the OK/CALL button. The date the phone is set to will be displayed. 4. Use the DOWN button to locate 'Note '. Press the OK/CALL button. 5. Type in your note/to do list using the keypad, as you would when texting. 6. Press the OK/CALL button. SAVE will be displayed. If you wish to use a pre-saved template for the title of your note, scroll down at this point, to 'Use Template' and select. A list of templates will be displayed, locate and select the required template, which will be added to your note/to do list message. 7. When the screen displays SAVE, press the OK/CALL button. Your saved To do List note will scroll across the screen. 8. Use the DOWN button to locate 'Status - ONCE'. Press the OK/CALL button. The sub-menu will allow you to select between Once, Everyday or Off. This will determine how many times the message alert is activated. Press the OK/CALL button. 9. Use the UP/DOWN buttons to now locate the date --/--/--. To edit this, press OK/CALL button. Edit the date for the list using the keypad. Select the date, month and the last two digits of the year. 10. Press the OK/CALL button. SAVE? will be displayed, press the OK/CALL button. The date you have saved will be displayed. When a To do list is already stored; 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to locate SETTINGS. Select this by pressing the OK / CALL button. 2. Locate and select TO DO LIST. 3. The display will show a time. Press the OK/Call button. 4. You will now be given the following options (use the UP/DOWN buttons to scroll); Add - compile a new to do list Edit - edit an existing to do list Delete - Delete 5. Select if you wish to add, edit or delete stored to do lists. When the alert sounds for the stored to do list/reminder, press the OK/CALL button. Please note: The mini USB socket is for manufacturing purposes only, this mobile phone cannot be connected to a computer. This Mobile phone does not have Bluetooth facilities.
