Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor Device description: Hold the monitor with the screen facing you and the wrist strap at the back. Under the screen at the end closest to you, you will feel four buttons. From left to right - the first three buttons decrease in size and the fourth is bigger than the others. To the left is the MEMORY button; used to recall the stored memory. The second is the MODE button; used to access the menu to set the time and date. The third is the SET button; used to turn the speech on and off, and to adjust the time and date after the mode button has been pressed. Please note: there is no spoken output on the MODE or SET buttons. The fourth is the START/STOP button. This starts the procedure to take your blood pressure and if required pressing this button will stop the measurement whilst the cuff is inflating. PLEASE NOTE: if there is no speech after you have taken your first measurement the speech function is turned off. You will need to press the SET button once and either retake your blood pressure, or press the MEMORY button to hear the measurement results of the last test you took. When the speech is on a symbol of a dot and three curved lines will be displayed on the screen. There is no spoken confirmation of this. When you receive your Wrist Blood Pressure Monitor the date and time will be set and the batteries will be in place, allowing you to instantly take a measurement. To change the time and date or to replace the batteries see instructions further on (page 5). Taking a Measurement: 1) Undo the strap allowing it to hang loosely. You will feel the pressure cuff clip, which is flexible but firm. The monitor needs to be positioned on the palm side of your wrist. The buttons of the monitor should be at the closest edge to you. Place your wrist in the pressure cuff. Once the monitor is positioned correctly, wrap the rest of the strap around, allowing the Velcro to hold it in place. If you have any of the strap over hanging fold it inwards and press it down. Make sure you do not have the pressure cuff / strap too tight. 2) Sit upright on a chair to have correct posture. Place your elbow on a table or other object (such as our carry case). Use this to position the arm so that the monitor is at the same height as the your heart. Relax your hand with the palm facing upwards. 3) Press the START / STOP button (the biggest button of the four). On the screen all elements will display “888” for 3 seconds. The measuring blood pressure symbol will flash on the screen and then the air pressure will automatically pump up to 195 mmHg. If your blood pressure tends to be on the high level, the air pressure will automatically increase to the required level for measurement. While the monitor is taking your blood pressure, you should be sitting quietly and still. 4) After taking your blood pressure measurement, the systolic, diastolic and heart pulse rate will be read out and also flashed on the display for one minute. Storing, recalling and erasing measurement data: Storing data: Each measurement taken is automatically stored with the date and time. The memory holds the latest 99 measurements. When the memory reaches 99, it will automatically clear the earliest data, and continue storing the new measurements. Please note when recalling data, only the Systolic rate, Diastolic rate and heart rate will be announced, not the date and time. Recalling data: 1) When you are not taking a measurement you can access the stored data by pressing the memory button. If there is no announcement or nothing displayed there is no data in the memory. If there is data in the memory, the latest recorded set of measurements will appear for one minute and will be announced. 2) To hear previous stored data, press the memory button. Each stored measurement is numbered accordingly in the bottom left corner of the screen. 3) To discontinue recalling stored data, press the START / STOP button. The device will then switch off automatically if you do not request another function. Erasing data: 1) To erase the stored data, remove and then replace the batteries. 2) Enter the memory function, to make sure no data is stored. To change the Date and Time: Please note: There is no speech during the setting or changing of the date and time. The figures will flash at the top of the display screen, to indicate which figure is going to be changed. 1) Press the MODE button. This figure is the month. Press the SET button to set the correct month (1, 2..11). 2) Press the MODE button again. This figure is the date. Press the SET button to set the correct date. 3) Press the MODE button again. This figure is the hour. Press the SET button to set the correct hour in 12-hour format. When a “P” appears next to this figure it is indicating PM. 4) Press the MODE button again. This figure is the minutes. Press the SET button to set the correct minute (0, 1, 2...59). 5) Press the MODE button again to switch back to normal status. The month, date, hour and minute will appear on the screen. To change the batteries: When the batteries are low a warning symbol of a battery with a cross through it will appear on the screen. It will also not be possible to take a blood pressure measurement. There is no audible warning of low battery. 1) The battery compartment is located on left corner of the curved edge, feel for ridged lines and turn the unit so that these are facing upwards. Use these ridged lines to remove the battery compartment door. To do this slide this section outwards away from the unit then, turn the monitor upside down and the batteries will come out. 2) The first battery needs to go in the space closest to the centre of the monitor. Feel on the ends of the new battery for the protruding plus point. The battery needs to go with this plus point, pointing out of the compartment. The second battery needs to go into the space with the plus point end first. 3) To replace the compartment door, find the ridged section, and feel for a protruding part at the same end. Line up the door with the correct position of the monitor and slot the protruding part into the space provided. Once this is lined up push downwards on the door to click into place.
