Talking Bathroom Scale with Memories Recommendations for use: Always weigh yourself with the same bathroom scale on a hard surface. Avoid rugs and carpets. Clean your bathroom scale with a damp cloth but do not allow water to enter into the scale. Remove the batteries if you do not intend to use your bathroom scale for an extended period. Power supply: This unit is supplied with the batteries; 2 x lithium batteries (CR2032) for the power of the “weighing” function. 1x 9 volt alkaline battery for the power supply of the “voice” function. Please note: when you receive your bathroom scales you will need to connect both sets of batteries. The 9 volt alkaline battery can be located in the battery compartment. For instructions of how to connect this battery please refer to page 5 "To replace the batteries". You will also need to remove a piece of plastic from the other battery compartment. If you turn the scales over and feel across the surface you will find a flimsy piece of plastic sticking out. You will need to pull this out to connect the batteries. If you find your scales still will not work the battery may have come away from its connection. In this case you will need to open the compartment using the latch and make sure the batteries are pushed down firmly. Operating Instructions: Adjustment of volume: there are 3 volume levels; loud, quiet or silent (HI, LO, OFF). To change the volume you will require the tip of a narrow pen. The switch for the volume is located in a hole. Feel in the centre top edge on the underneath of the scale for a cut out rectangle shape. Within this rectangle shape are the controls for changing the volume, the language and the measuring units. Within the rectangle you will feel two small cut out rectangles. The one on the left controls the volume. The positions for the volumes are; HI - as far to the left as possible, LO- the central position, OFF - as far to the right as possible. If you wish to change the measuring units from Metric to Imperial or vice versa (I.e. Kilograms to Stones to Pounds). As described for the volume adjustment, except for the measurement unit control, use the small cut out rectangle on the right. The positions for the measurements are; POUNDS - as far to the left as possible, STONES AND POUNDS - the central position, KILOGRAMS - as far to the right as possible. Choice of language: English, French or German. Please note: the scale will only announce in French and German when the measuring units are in Kilograms. Once the measuring unit has been changed , press the button on the back of the weighing scales, which is located in the rectangle as described for changing the volume. The button is situated in the centre at the top of the rectangle and is protruding. Please note: When you are using the scales for the first time or after replacing the batteries: Give a brief tap in the centre of the appliance. The scales will say hello and displays a row of zeros on the screen then switches off. Wait 10 seconds before getting on the scales. Memory function This model has 4 buttons which are located in the centre of the top edge. They are numbered 1-4, running from left to right. Each of the 4 buttons is intended for one different member of the household who can check their weight loss or gain between the new and previous measurement. Please note: The first time you use the memory function in the scales they will have nothing stored in the memories to compare your weight with. Therefore they will only announce your current weight. Weight gain or loss: 1) Lightly press your personal key (e.g. memory 1) to start the appliance in memory mode. Memory number 1 will appear and the scales will say “Memory 1”. 2) When the screen indicates “0.0”, the scales tells you: “Ready” or “Stand on the platform”. Standing on the platform and remain on them until your weight is displayed and announced. 3) Step off the platform. 4) After a few seconds, the difference between your current weight and the last saved weight will be announced and displayed. The scales will tell you “Your weight has reduced by or increased by…..”. 5) Your weight will be displayed for a further 2 seconds and the scales are switched off automatically. To just weigh yourself without the memory function: Step onto the scales, they will say “Hello”. Remain on the scales until you have heard your weight announced. To replace the batteries: Changing the 9 volt alkaline battery: Hold the scales with the screen facing upwards and at the furthest end away from you, then turn the scales over, so the screen remains at the furthest end away from you. There are two battery compartments, one for each type of battery. Feel from the left side in the centre of the scale until you feel a latch. When you pull the latch to the left the compartment door will become open and be able to be removed. The battery is attached to a pad which has the connections on. The battery will need to be removed from this pad and the new battery connected to it. Feeling the top connectors on the battery, you will feel one is circular and the other has edges, the pad in the battery compartment has the same connectors. To connect the battery to this pad, connect opposites; therefore, the circular shaped connector goes with the edged connector and vice versa. Changing the 2 x lithium batteries (CR2032): Holding the scales in the same way as described above, feel from the right edge until you feel the latch, once found pull the latch to the right. Inside this compartment you will feel the two flat batteries. Each battery is securely in place. When feeling around the battery you will feel different shapes, there are two gaps, one of which is larger than the other. Find the smaller gap of the two around the battery. Place the tip of a ball point pen into the small gap and firmly lever the battery out. When placing the new batteries into the compartment, have the side of the battery with a rim facing downwards. You will need to feel and find a ridge where the battery is going to be placed. The battery will need to be pushed under this ridge before being pushed completely into the compartment. Automatic switch off: When you get off your weighing scales, the screen displays a row of zeros, then the scales switch off automatically after a few seconds.
